Life is a highway...

or is it? Anyway, I thought it was time for some "update" on my job applications. There is still no word from InCreo, neither from Thales. Since I am still working on my master thesis (LSI, OMIM and etc.) I guess I am in no hurry... yet. There have been some positive feedbacks on my applications, I have been interviewed by Proxycom (will be notified whether or not I am wanted for a second interview this week) and have an interview appointment with the recruitment specialist Elan IT this Wednesday. So, that is the "update" for this time.

My wish...

for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big, your worries stay small... is the lyrics of a song of Rascal Flatts. In one of my earlier postings here I said that there will not be any romantic stuff here, this is still true and will be so also in the future, because this is not some romantic stuff (had to make that clear).

You see, I have been somewhat selfish, very pessimistic (not so uncommon actually), and quite discouraging. I am struggling a little with my master thesis, not been very lucky with my job applications so far, and for a pessimistic person like me this is like the doomsday/apocalypse/you name it (Apocalypto is by the way a good movie) if I do not get a positive response soon, but that is no excuse for letting it affect others. So to whom it concerns, especially a girl in Oslo, I am very sorry for that my negativity and all that have affected you like it has, and my wish for you... well, just read the first sentence again.

1000 miles...

it sure feels like a thousand miles driving Trondheim - Lom - Sparbu (only in Norwegian). For me the Christmas came early this year, to be precise early December. I got a Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO lens for my Canon 350D and a Lowepro Micro Trekker 100 backpack.

I've also applied for a job at the company InCreo (Norwegian) here in Trondheim. The search for a job has officially begun.

Happy new year.

Long slow beautiful dance...

is not what I'd classify this day as. It's been a slow day, but not very beautiful. The day started as it always does, I stood up, got dressed, and went to school. At school I played some soccer with Kai which resulted in stiff muscles, not that it was a big surprise since it's been some months since the last time I played soccer. Later today I strained my neck and something in my knee, way to go. Just as I thought it couldn't get any worse, FM crashed, and that's when I figured out that I could write about my miserable day here in my blog.

But not everything has been of the negative kind today for me, I actually finished the translation exercise for tomorrow... uh-heh... thanks Bob... errors may occur. I think I'll play some Spider Solitaire now. You guessed it, I'm BOOOOORED!

Spirit of a boy, wisdom of a man...

actually it's the other way around. I have an obligatory assignment due for this monday, and to be honest I've got some work left on it. Small towns & big dreams goes hand in hand, and I won't deny that I have some big ones myself. Unfortunately my spirit and wisdom will probably make me fall short of achieving my dreams. Does anybody really achieve their goals in life? I'd be happy if I get myself a job and a family, but I'd better get finished with my education first don't you think?

And now for something completely different. Kai, Maylen and I watched the movie Fun With Dick And Jane, but before we could watch the movie, I had to set up their home entertainment system... someone called for the cable guy?... Anyhow I found the movie kinda funny.

"Yeah, I just got in with this new company, great benefits. It's called Enron!"

Seven wonders...

and none of them are Erlend Reitan. I know what you're thinking and I couldn't agree more, it's a damn shame.

I still haven't done my homework due for Wednesday, mostly because I'm kinda weak-willed. Hopefully I'll get some work done tomorrow. This day has been rather shitty. My neck hurts and I've got a cold coming on... I guess it's a cold since my throat is sore and I have to blow my nose at least three times a day. Prove me wrong if you like, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'd might infect you.

The last few days have also been a little disappointing, not so many to talk with and such things. Although I've had a "complete makeover" with none other than the fashion guru Mr Bardal. So mothers, lock up your daughters and throw away the key.

"Crocks rule!"

Waiting all my life...

On my supervisor... not quite that bad though. I only had to wait for about 45 minutes. Apparently he had a videoconference going on in his office, so I had to wait outside. Luckily for me there were some chairs in the corridor. 45 minutes is a long time and since I didn't get too much sleep the night before, I fell asleep in one of the chairs quite fast. Did it make me frisky later on that day? No way, José (not Mourinho). I was still just a yawning student. Just a question to all you English speaking humans out there, is it "a yawning student" or "an yawning student"?

Until next meeting I shall dig up pros and cons about probabilistic and semantic indexing methods with clustering in mind. These pros and cons will form the basis of my implementation. Probably not very interesting to read about, but I don't care what you think... it's my blog!

I'd better continue with my homework for tomorrow.

Just one more thing. Those of you who expect some romantic nonsense in this blog, I have to disappoint you, it won't happen... at least not very soon. But hey, don't panic, I know just where to send you all. Some misspellings will occur (mostly the so-called word "hart") but what else should one expect from a norwegian Romeo.

Update:
My instincts about the spelling of "a yawning student" is correct. The choice between a and an depends on pronunciation, not spelling. For instance; an hour and a university. So there you have it.
